Crafty shopping guide in Luxembourg

Cactus supermarket hobby department sells big sheets of 50×70 coloured card, all your basic supplies, ink pads, some stamps (mainly for events), paints and some scrapbook embellishments.  In the art department you’ll find Gesso and Gel medium.

Beim Jean is a small craft shop on the main street in Mersch selling lots of scrapbooking and cardmaking supplies. Most makes are Rayher but she does sell the Sizzix Big Shot machine and some Nestabilities dies.

Ava in Howald or Messancy is full of stuff.  From big sheets of card and pre-cut card blanks to stamps and ink pads and everything else in between.  They sell lots of embellishments and some scrapbook papers as well as kits and lots of other bits and pieces.

Hema sells cheap glue sticks and embellishments which are normally for kiddy craft projects but with a bit of imagination their packs of ribbon and flowers can be used for scrapbooks and cards too. Also for 3€ they do a fantastic pack of paper and card in all colours and formats which is great value.

Zeeman is another surprise.  Among the rayons of plastic toys and colouring books are stickers and embellishments for no more than a couple of euro’s. I bought myself a pack of alphabet stickers (they come in 5 colours) for 1.29€ and I have 2 uppercase and 2 lowercase of every letter plus numbers and symbols too.

Match supermarket sells the best value double sided tape I know.  It’s found on the hardware  rayon and is as wide as a roll of packing tape yet is about the same price as a normal roll sold for crafts (which is about a cm wide) which you’ll find in Cactus for example.  Cardmakers/scrappers get through alot of this stuff so it’s good to know where the value lies.

Bastelkiste has everything you need and more under one roof but you do pay a price and occasionally parking can be an issue.

I’ll be updating this frequently and adding information as I come across new things.

 Where to buy your pre-scored cards and ink pads

Plain pre-scored cards can be bought singularly in various sizes and colours from;

  •  Cactus supermarket
  •  Libraire Ernster (Belle Etoile)
  • Ava in Howald or Messancy Belgium

By far the best value we’ve found so far is Zeeman in the Top Centre Mersch who sell packs of 10 cards with envelopes in various colours for .99cents. (look with the childrens toys)

Ink pads can be found at;

  • Cactus supermarket sells a Pigment ink pad for 7.95 but pigment ink is slow to dry and not suitable for plain stamping without embossing.
  • Ava sells Pigment ink and Chalk ink both for 7.30 or Cats Eyes (6 complimentary colours of Pigment ink) for 11.99
  • Beim Jeanne craft store on the high street Mersch  – as yet I have to research what she sells and how much!
